 Printed Pattern

Embrace texture with the Holey Moley Sweater. Features all over eyelet stitches, drop shoulders, crop length, volumes sleeves and balloon cuffs. Uses top down construction for a seamless finish and short rows at the shoulders for shaping.

Knit with worsted weight / 10 ply yarn for confident level knitters. The sweater is worked flat from the shoulders to the underarms and then in the round for the remainder of the project. The neckline and sleeves are both picked up and knit in the round.

This design was inspired during the ongoing Covid outbreak in 2021. At the time, the world felt like a harsh, tense place and I wanted to feel cosy and cocooned. So I created this sweater with thick, squishy yarn for a cosy embrace, delicate lace to counteract the harshness of the world, balloon sleeves for a sense of indulgence and a cropped, oversized fit for easy wear. This project brought me calm during a wild time and I hope that as you knit and wear this sweater, that it does the same for you.

Fit & Yarn Details

I recommend a worsted weight / 10 ply yarn. Would suit both wool or cotton ... anything where the stitch definition can take centre stage.

Models are both wearing size B and the blonde model wears it with approx 15 cm / 6" ease. Designed to be worn with 10-20 cm / 4-8" of positive ease, depending on your fit preference. Sizes read as A (B, C) (D, E, F).

Finished bust measurements: cm = 87 (102, 116) (131, 145, 160) / inches = 34.5 (40, 46) (52, 58, 63)"

Yarn quantity: metres = 829 (997, 1184) (1422, 1627, 1878) / yards = 903 (1086, 1290) (1549, 1772, 2046)

Needles: 6.5 mm (US 10.5) circular needle (or size to obtain gauge) with a suggested 100 cm (40") long cord AND 5.5 mm (US 9) circular needle with a suggested 100 cm (40") cord. NOTE: the sleeves and neckline are worked using the magic loop method, but you also opt for a shorter cord or DPNs.

Gauge: 16.5 sts x 22 rows = 10 cm x 10cm / 4"x4" square in stockinette stitch. If you have too many stitches across your 10 cm/4" space, you need to go up one (or more) needle size. If you have less stitches than needed, you'll have to go down a needle size.
